IH COLLEGE DAYS
CHAPTER 1
It was around noon when Zac, Kourtni, and myself arrived at the Orlando Florida Airport. I let out a sigh of relief as I parked my white prias into the Airport pick-up lane. Living in Florida all your life, you tend to learn that you should always get a light-colored car. Even so, it didn't help Zac and Kourtni much. The two of them were from Canada, where hot for them is about 40F. I was actually afriad they'd melt since a mice day here was about 70 degrees.
Zac was riding in the back with his girlfriend, Kourtni. He was 18, like the rest of us. He had a yellow mohawk and really short black hair. He wore a loose black shirt with no sleeves and jeans since he wasn't use to the heat.
Next to him was Kourtni. She had short brown hair that was about shoulder length and wore thin, oval glasses. Her wore a tight black T that went to the top of her navel and a skirt that was about knee length.
Meanwhile, I relaxed in the drivers seat. My neck-length brown hair brushed back. I opened the top three buttons of my black collared shirt. I looked back at my two passengers. This was the first time I have actually meet these two in person. We used to only chat on the web because of where we lived. I took notice of Zacs scars. I heard that he was in a bit of a rumble a few years ago. A long scar was rested across his forehead and his neck. They weren't deep, but from what I heard, Kourtni was worried sick. I was a bit frightened myself, but glad that the two of them were okay.
I looked down and reminded myself of just how the three, soon to be four, got here. Last April, on my 18th birthday. I accidently ate a thing called the Devil Fruit. So now, I can't swim. To make matters worst, since the discovery of Devil Fruits, those who eat them, even my accident, can't participate in events of any kind with regular humans or go into regular schools. Apparently, the first users were cheaters. Oddly enough, a few days after, both Kourtni and Zac had eaten Devil Fruits as well. They didn't talk about it until after I picked them up a few days ago. I had no idea what to do. I couldn't get into any college because of this. However, from some weird streak of luck, the three of us where accepted into some placed called Kombiniterte Arten Academy. The only college in the world said to accept Devil Fruit users. But nothing else is known about it, not that we were complaining. But it did seem weird though. I began to think of just how the Chairman of the college knew of us. My thoughts were interrupted by a sudden yelp. I turned to see it was Kourtni, apparently shouting with excitement. I looked out the window and saw why she was so excited. In the crowd was a girl, around the same age. She had long brown hair and wore a white tank top and tight blue jeans. Her skin was lightly tanned, just a little lighter then her hair. I chuckled and stood out of the car.
"Yo Lan!"I laughed as I rounded my Prias. Lan turned and smiled when she saw me.
"Tre!"She laughed as she ran up and hugged me."I can't believe I'm finally meeting you!"
"Me either!"I laughed as I let her go, leading her to my car. Zac and Kourtni stood up, smiling.
"So, is this her?"Zac chuckled as he walked up.
"Yup!"I laughed."Kourtni, Zac, this is Lan, my Cyber-Sister."
"Hi, I'm happy to meet you!"She laughed.
"Tre's told us a lot about you."Kourtni replied. Even though she had meet Lan online, from what I've learned from meeting her in person myself is that she likes to make a good first impression. She acted like she was meeting me for the fist time when I meet her face to face. According to Zac, it was a bit of a habit.
Zac and I started to load up Lan's luggage into the back of the prias. Meanwhile, Kourtni and Lan began to talk, turns out they seemed to have lot in common. It took a few minutes until Zac and I closed the trunk and chuckled.
"Alright! We're good to go!"I explained as I pulled a Dukes Of Hazard move and slide across the front of my car, only to slide off and into the street, landing flat on my ass, in which Zac nearly laughed his off. I quickly got up and got into my Prias and took off.
It was going to be a few hours before we got to Kombiniterte Arten Academy, or was we called it, KAA! So we mostly spent to time planning out the year. I spent the time looking on the road, some how paying attention to both the group and the road at the same time. I don't know how, but I tend to have this auto-pilot ability where I can talk and move at the same time. And I don't even know where I'm going. I was deep in thought, accidently drowning out the talk everybody else was having until Lan shouted"KAA!"
I shook out of my state and quickly glanced around the car before returning to the road. Lan, Kourtni and Zac were laughing.
"This is going to be awesome!"Lan laughed."Just think about it, College! The four of us, Freshman!"
"This is going to rock!"Kourtni agreed. I was amazed at how well everybody was doing. They were really confident about this.
"Man, I'm starving."Zac said as he leand back."Yo Tre! Can we get something to eat?"
"Sure, why not?"I replied as I looked around. My eyes grew as I noticed that we were in the party-city of Florida. Good old Miami beach! I looked at the clock, It was already five. I pulled into a nearby 7-11 real quick cause, well, after driving for like five hours in a Prias, you're going to need to refill. I stopped right in front of gas tank and turned around.
"Alright, there's a Burger King over there."I pointed to the restaurant as I walked to the gas tank."You guys go on a head and get something to eat, I'll be there shortly."
"Got it!"Zac laughed as the three walked.
One good thing about a prias, they don't take long to fill up. After a few seconds, a minute max, I took the pump out and placed it back in the holder.
I leaned against my card and reached into my back pocket, taking out my I-phone. I sighed a bit and remembered how I got this. It was a present from my dad as I turned 18.
"Guess a call wouldn't hurt."I thought as I went to turn it on, suddenly, there was a powerful burst of energy! I quickly turned around to see that the Burger King next door was on fire! I remembered sending Lan and the others in there a while ago, my eyes grew large with fear as I sprinted, calling there names as I ran closer. But, the closer I got, the harder it was to maneuver around the panicking crowed rushing out of the restaurant.
I got closer enough too see that the place didn't blow up, but a force shattered the windows and the place was burning down. I began to worry that they might of died. Until I heard something. The crowd watched in awe behind me as I turned and saw what they were looking at.
In front of the burning Burger King was a hole with a moving green background. Inside was Zac, carrying Lan in his arms. I quickly jumped up as he stepped out and placed Lan on the ground. She was a bit beaten up from the fire, her legs were bleeding, and she was shuttering in fear.
"What happened?"I asked, my voice trembling as Zac stood up.
"Some guy held up the place."He started."He shot a bullet at small gas tank and the whole place went up in flames. I managed to use my Trap Door to get the works and customers out saftly, but Lan wasn't so lucky."
That was Zac's Devil fruit power, the Dora Dora no mi. Also known as the 'Door Door fruit'. I heard him talk about it when I picked him and Kourtni up the day they arrived. My eyes widened when that thought launched into my head as Zac turned back to the restaurant.
"Is...she still..."I started, but Zac already nodded. Kourtni was still inside. And I could tell Zac didn't like it one bit. He bit his lower lip so hard it began to bleed. Something must of happened when they separated, but what?
My answer came soon enough when a sudden BANG filled the area. That was it! The robber must still be inside. But why? And how? He'd be burnt to a crisp! And Kournti wouldn't be any luckier.
"Zac, what's going on?!"I shouted as I stood up."Why didn't Kourtni come with you!?"
"She...didn't want to come."He strained to get out."She said she needed to stay behind. To fight off the Robber!"
"And you let her!?"I shouted as I withdrew thee urge to land my fist into his face as he turned to me and shouted."IT'S NOT LIKE I WANTED TO!?"
I grew stunned, I'd never seen Zac this way before. His eyes where large, but his pupils had shrunk. Tears began to force there way out as Zac clenched his teeth tightly."You think I would let my Girlfriend in that new hell hole alone!"He continued as he lowered his head and his tone."Believe me, Tre. I wanted to help. But she said she just couldn't stand to see my get any more injuried."He explained, he was actually starting to cry.
I finally got it. Kourtni was still traumatized about the incident a few years ago when Zac got those scars. I thought she was over it, but obviously not. She couldn't stand to seee Zac take any more damage for her.
Zac continued, say that she stayed behind because if somebody didn't fight off the robber, then he'd just run out here. Putting innocent people at risk.
I began to feel an anger arise in me. It was people like this who gave Devil Fruit users like me and Zac bad names. I looked down at Lan, still shaking from the incident, and sighed. I placed my hand on Zac's shoulder and leaned forward to his ear and whispered "I'll take care of the rest."
I began to walk past Zac as he turned his head slowly and nodded. This guy, he hurt Zac, most likely Kourtni, and traumatized Lan. I walked closer and closer into the fire, the heat showing as it reflected off of my skin.
"I'm going to make that bastard pay."I thought as I stepped into the flames. The crowed shouted and told me to come back, but I was too focused. I lifted my hand and drew it back. With my fist clenched, I thrust my arm forward, punching the burning door in. I ignored the fires as I walked inside. The place was brightly lit. The entire place began to burn. I looked around, but I couldn't see anybody. My attention was brought to a pile of fallen support beams, and who was under them.
I ran forward and noticed it was Kourtni. She had apparently been knocked out by the beams since she wasn't moving, but still breathing. I gripped the top beam and began to pull it out. But the fire had some how began to melt them all together. I needed some way to stop it. I looked around and took note of the wall of fire that surrounded us. "I can't waist anytime."I thought as I lundged my fist back, it began to glow dimly.
"Brick Brake, minimum power!"I shouted as I forced my arm forward, my fist literally when into the melting beams. I attempted to pull it out, but the head began to melt it quickly and it over lapped my arm, trapping me as well.
"Damn!"I thought as I tried to pull it out."Can't....move!"
Just when I thought things couldn't get wosrt, I was proven wrong by a sudden loud CLANK! I looked up and noticed that the few remaining support beams had begun to fall, and to make matters wosrt, it was going to be on top of the two of us!
I pulled my body in and held my arms out, bending my knees, the beams fell upon my back, the fire buring my skin was something I had to ignore along with the sharp edges digging into me.
I was able to maintain my stance since my body was Mentally strong. But the pain began to over ride and I started to sink lower and lower. I let out a sudden cry of agony as I felt the support beam digging in deeper and the fire starting to creep into my wound, burning my muscles. I was literally going to be burnt from the inside out!
Just then, I felt my body dip a little and suddenly came back up. My body suddenly gained this intense burst of energy. I could see my skin beginning to glow and become pink as smoke came out of it. I couldn't believe what was happening. But I wasn't complaining. My strength some how multiplied by at lease fifty fold as I lifted the beams up and they literally fell off my back. I put my left hand on the melting Support beams and pulled my trapped one out. Some how, the force caused the melting beams to split in half. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I didn't think about it for long. Mostly because I could see my skin returning to normal and the smoke stopping. Suddenly, a surge of pain coated my heart as I suddenly fell to my back, clenching my chest. I began to cough violently. Each one more then the last since the smoke began to fill my lungs. Blood began to burst out of my mouth. My vision grew darker and darker. Until I passed out.

"Treue? Treue?"I heard a small voice ask as I began to come to. My vision was cloudy at first, but cleared up to see Lan. I asked what was going on as I attempted to sit up, but for some reason, I couldn't. My body was completely numb. I looked over to see Zac holding Kourtni, surprisingly, the two of them were find.
"What...happened?"I asked, turning back to Lan.
"Zac used his powers to teleport inside and pull you two out just in time."Lan explained."I'm glad you're alright."
I let out an amused chuckle at Lan's remark.
"Or course I am."I teased as I forced my right arm, which was the only piece of my that apparently could move, and gave her a thumbs up."I'm Adel Der Treue after all!"
"Hey! Tre's awake!"Kourtni cheered as she rushed up with Zac."How are you feeling?"
"Well, I can't move and my back burns like hell, so pretty good."I teased, smiling.
"Glad to hear it."Zac replied."The doctor said that the support beam in your back could of caused you to be paralyzed permanently. But for some reason, you're spin was at lease ten times stronger then a normal human's. So you should be up in a day or two."
"Glad to hear it."I responded taking note of the crowed and the burnt down Burger King. The group looked at us in the usual way we got, no the 'hey look at the freaks!' Way. More like the 'what the hell just happened?' way.
Zac and Kourtni held me up by grabbing my arms and putting them over there necks. It was time for us to go.
"Hey, Tre, seeing how you can't move, mind if I drive?"Zac asked, teasing. I normally didn't like anybody else driving my Prias, but since he had a point, I agreed. We walked to my car, with Lan and me in the back and Kourtni and Zac in front, he started the transmission and chuckled slyly, slamming on the gas peddle, he just caused teh car to shoot forward onto the road doing 90!
"HOLY CRAAAAAAAAAP!"I heard him shout along witht he rest of us. Nobody really knows this, but I know how to trick things out.
Speaking of which, there was one thing that was out tricking me. Zac said that a robber caused that fire and Kourtni stayed behind to stop him, but I didn't see anybody? Was he just hiding? Or did he bolt when those beams knocked Kourtni out? What I was about to learn though, was that College was about to become more then just books.
